Wonderwool Wales is the premier Wool & Natural Fibre Festival in Wales. It was set up in 2006 in order to promote wool and natural fibre production and its use in Wales. The Event was funded by a Leader + grant from the EU and managed by Powys County Council, via Glasu, for the first 3 years until the funding ceased.
At this time a small group of exhibitors, who had been part of the original steering committee with Glasu, set up a Not-for-Profit company in order for the event to continue.
Wonderwool Wales Ltd, comprising of Olwen Veevers, Chrissie Menzies and Sarah Stacey, ran the event for the first time in 2009. We hope to expand the show each year with new ideas, but still maintain the standards, ethos and enthusiasm of the Festival.
For 2010 an extensive Woolschool programme is being organised and will be available soon for bookings.
Exhibitors and Trade Stands covering all aspects of Felting, Knitting, Weaving, Spinning & Crochet along with Textile Art will be at the event with raw materials, equipment, books and finished product. There will also be demonstrations and a selection of fibre animals on display including sheep, alpacas and angora rabbits.
We hope that you will all be able to join us for what we hope will be a fun and fibre packed weekend. Camping facilities are available on site and a list of accommodation in the surrounding area is available on the Wonderwool website.
This year we shall be running competitions in several of the knitting magazines giving you the chance to win 2 free tickets for Wonderwool Wales 2010.
Wonderwool Wales Ltd looks forward to seeing you all, old friends and new, in 2010.
There will be a programme of Woolschools running throughout the weekend with tutors covering difference aspects of knitting, crochet, felting, beading etc. These can all be booked in advance using the booking form.
