DESCRIPTION
Learn basic stitches using large, wooden crochet hooks, to build layers using different yarns. The technique can be used to make garments or wall hangings etc. Creative crochet is about making the most of the basic principles by combining interesting and unusual fibres, as the fancy takes you. So, whether you are new to crochet or already have the basic skills, we can still explore them further.
REQUIREMENTS
12mm wooden crochet hooks and a mixture of yarns will be provided at a cost of £5.00 per student. Bring any other yarns / fibres that you may wish to use.
TUTOR'S BACKGROUND
Jacqueline has worked with textiles since she was young, building a range of skills including knitting, crochet, tapestry, dressmaking, silk-screen printing, and more recently, felt-making. She is a textile artist / designer, working as Pen Coed Textiles for the last five years, and has been a Distance Learning Tutor on textile design and history of art courses with the Open College of the Arts for more than 20 years.
Jacqueline is interested in combining basic techniques and developing them in less structured ways. She loves colour and texture and works in felt-making like painting with fibres!, knitting, crochet and peg loom weaving (look out for her new book).
