WEAVING WITH WILLOW BARK

DESCRIPTION

Make a beautiful willow bark bowl woven in a hexagonal pattern and stitched with copper wire on this fun and creative workshop. Learn how to harvest willow bark fresh from a willow tree and how to make use of the beautiful textures and interesting natural features for weaving or making simple containers.

REQUIREMENTS

The tutor will provide one roll of willow bark per person at an additional cost of £2 per roll, payable at the workshop.

TUTOR'S BACKGROUND

Mel Bastier has been a willow weaver and professional basket maker for the last 11 years and is a partner in the business Out to Learn Willow. She provides fun and creative willow weaving workshops; basket making, garden structures, willow sculpture, living willow and much more. She specialises in large scale willow sculpture and has recently completed commissions for the RHS and the BBC.
