Chic and frivolous felt hats with Lizzie Houghton

3d sculptural feltmaking with Jenny Pepper
Sorry but this is 2 day workshop is now sold out
During this two day workshop we will explore creating hollow 3 dimensional felt in a sculptural way using resist methods. Taking inspiration from the natural world we will create an organic sculpture based on observation taken from images and source material. We will cover a variety of techniques to add texture, layers & dimensions to the surface of your vessel. You will learn how to add spikes & craters to both the inside and outside of a vessel, as well as adding tails & extensions. Create a unique shape with the addition of extensions to the edges, cut-work & folding.
The Vessel can be free standing, wall hung or suspended. If wall hung we will cover how to add channels for hanging supports. I will have a selection of samples to show possibilities & you can choose to incorporate some or all of the methods. You can choose to make one sculptural piece over the two days or, if you prefer, two smaller pieces to sample different techniques, the choice is yours. Plan & cut your own template to your own design idea or base your design on the templates I bring with me. At the end of the workshop you will have a unique felt vessel and will have acquired a collection of techniques to add to your skills for future projects.
