DESCRIPTION
Dyeing can be a rewarding 'adventure', and hand-made, hand dyed fibres and yarns provide a unique raw material for any number of textile projects.
A member of the Guild will guide students through the serendipity of some simple dyeing techniques. Plain yarn or wool tops will be transformed into beautiful and satisfying space dyed hanks, ready to take home and fix for use in future projects.
This Workshop is suitable for beginners.
REQUIREMENTS
Dyes etc will be supplied at a cost of £3.50 per student.
Students need to bring - 4 x 50 gram hanks of yarn. or 4 x 50 grams of Wool tops (preferably not Merino unless it is superwash merino), or a mix of both.
A couple of 5cm -10cm (2" - 4") paint brushes
Roll of cling film
Waterproof container (box or bag) to carry wet yarn home
An old towel and pair of rubber gloves
NOTE - Please tie a marker to each of your skeins eg. white plastic garden label with your name in pencil or indelible marker.
PLEASE CHECK IN AT LEAST 15 MINUTES EARLY FOR THIS WORKSHOP, TO ALLOW TIME TO WET ALL THE SKEINS READY FOR DYEING.
