SPIN ON A DROP SPINDLE ? WOOLSCHOOL 3

DESCRIPTION

The workshop is designed to teach how to spin and ply on a drop spindle.  You can be an absolute beginner, and by the end of the workshop you will have the knowledge to make your own yarn with an ancient but still highly productive and relevant tool.  It is by far the most economical and portable way to spin.  - 'Have spindle can spin anywhere!'

Students can bring their own drop spindle and fleece, or can purchase kits from the workshop - there are also many stalls within Wonderwool Wales who will also be selling these.  We will provide the know how and practical help, you come with the will to learn and a sense of fun.

REQUIREMENTS

Drop spindles will be available to borrow on the day, alternatively you can bring your own.

Fleece will be available to purchase at approximately £2.00 or students can bring their own.

Some whole kits will be for sale at the workshop costing between £8.00 and £10.00

TUTOR'S BACKGROUND

The workshop will be run by Mair Williams and Marrianne Larcombe, both enthusiastic members of the Gwent Guild of Weavers, Spinners & Dyers, who have been known to drop spindle whilst cooking, bathing the kids or taking over the communal area of hotels they have been staying in with their spindles.
