Design for the Terrified Masterclass
A short 2 hour Masterclass for the design challenged: in other words those who have technical skill in their craft, but can't get the design right! You don't have to be able to paint or draw, for this course, just come along and get stuck in.
Students need to bring: one image that inspires you, a sketch book of some sort, preferably A4 or bigger (A3), a pencil, ruler, rubber, scraps of coloured yarn in colours similar to your image.
The Tutor will supply: pencils, paints, crayons, old magazines, coloured paper, etc.
a complete set of notes.
Alison is an experienced designer with an O Level, A Level and HNC in weaving and Textile Design. She is a hand weaver, spinner and tutor whose work has been selected to appeared across the UK and in Europe at some of the most prestigious galleries including Atelier d'Art de France in Paris and 100% Design in London and has won several design awards from the Bradford Textile Society. She is co-author of Creative Spinning with Jane Deane and has been teaching spinning, weaving, dyeing and design for over 30 years and has tutored at two Summer Schools for the Association of Guild of Weavers, Spinners and Dyers and across the UK for Guilds. The 2015 Summer School saw her teaching her successful Design for the Terrified workshop.
