LEARNING TO SPIN ON A DROP SPINDLE
Mary and Liz will demonstrate and explain how drop spindles produce spun yarn. Students will then be given practical help and encouragement to learn the techniques themselves. Everyone will leave with the knowledge of how to spin, which they can then practice at their leisure.
Students are invited to bring: a drop spindle if you have one, a 50 cm length of commercial yarn and about 50 grams of fleece.
The tutors will have a small selection of fleece for sale. They will also have a limited number of drop spindles available to borrow.
Mary and Liz are long standing members of the Bridstow Spinners. They have a particular interest in producing yarn on a drop spindle: a simple historical spinning tool that is a pleasure to produce yarn on. This is a very inexpensive way to spin, but be warned it's addictive and spindles are very collectable!
