DESCRIPTION

Make a beautiful natural woven wall hanging on this fun and creative workshop. Learn how to harvest willow bark fresh from a willow tree and how to make use of the beautiful textures and interesting natural features. There will be a variety of other natural materials to include in your wall hanging including wool, nettle cordage, New Zealand flax, Day Lily and Montbretia leaves.

REQUIREMENTS

The Tutor will provide a variety of weaving materials including willow bark, wool and rush at an additional cost of £2 per person, payable at the workshop.

TUTOR'S BACKGROUND

Mel Bastier has been a willow weaver and professional basket maker for the last 11 years and is a partner in the business Out to Learn Willow. She provides fun and creative willow weaving workshops: basket making, garden structures, willow sculpture, living willow and much more. She specialises in large scale willow sculpture and has recently completed commissions for the RHS and the BBC.
